Liz Reilly, the founding spirit of Swazi-Lizkhar, and wife to the legendary pioneer conservationist, Ted Reilly, has left her indelible mark in the heart of the Kingdom of Eswatini. Her dream, conceived in 2001, was to create a place where the nations of Africa could come together in unity and celebration. With unwavering determination, she transformed the vast gum tree forest of the stud into the iconic Swazi-Lizkhar Stables, a structure built with love and labor by hand, one log at a time. Her legacy extends far beyond the physical walls of the Swazi-Lizkhar Stables. The fields that once were under forest were converted into lush paddocks, providing a serene setting for the stud's equine and wildlife inhabitants. As the original massive gum tree poles which were planted directly into the soil began to decay over time, Liz's spirit remained undaunted. With the support of her daughters, who sought to preserve her vision for posterity, a 4-year project commenced replanting every single log, one long at a time onto concrete foundations, ensuring that her creation would stand the test of time. Today, Swazi-Lizkhar stands as a testament to Liz Reilly's visionary spirit. The Stables has evolved into a magnificent renowned events venue, The Yellowstone which is a cherished landmark that embodies the essence of the Swazi people.
